The information provided on this page is presented to educate and help people with the functional aspects of United3D's Virtual Reality (VR) software, Blaxxun's Platform 7. Please note there are a number of VR software products/services on the internet ranging from Active Worlds to Second Life. Next to Active Worlds, Blaxxun software has been around the longest which ensures that there is a broad base of knowledge and readily available software and add-ons to enhance your 3D experience. Each product has their plus and minuses. The biggest plus for the Blaxxun software is that it uses the Internet standard protocol for VR, e.g., VRML and X3D (unlike others that use proprietary protocol/software). What this means to the average participant in this community is that there is a wealth of programs, code, avatars, textures, knowledgebase, and supporting files to assist anyone that is interested in creating and developing content for this community and/or for your own use while in the community. Another BIG plus to this community and it's software is that there are no restrictions or built-in limitations so a site owner can have as many users, virtual worlds, and supporting environments as the server can handle (and we have a BIG and POWERFUL server). While there is a whole list of other pluses of this software and minuses of the competing software, one remaining point that means a lot to me as an owner and that translates to something very important to the members of the community is the fact that the power and control is put in the hands of an owner like myself who can offer this incredible online, interactive experience for FREE (unlike Active Worlds where being an owner is cost prohibitive and Second Life where it costs money to do everything since it is run by a big business and ownership is not an option).
The United3D Community is a new concept in Online Communities in that it offers a unique offering of 2D and 3D means of interacting, chatting, gaming, and much more. It has it's own social structure and offers the ability of the members to interactive in 2D or 3D. There are two perspectives from which I would to present some high-level specifics; logical and technical. From a logical perspective the United3D Community consists of members that choose an avatar to represent how people see them as they are online. Avatars are available online on the site as well as on a variety of web sites (all for free and you can even create your own). Avatars can be men, women, animal, animated characters, and virtually anything (I have seen cars, robots, motorcyles, faeries, and many more things; but most choose to be a man or a woman). You can change your avatar as often as you would like. You can own a home, and most do because it is fun to decorate and comes with your own message board for people to post you messages. The first step in getting a home is to determine which District you want to live. You chose from the various online Districts where you want to live (Sci-Fi, Atlantis, and Mythica). Most Districts have 4 Neighborhoods and each Neighborhood has at least 4 blocks. You can choose from up to 20 different house styles. You can move at any time and change houses (but it will cost you virtual money - United3D Community Cash). Since I mentioned virtual money, it is time to let you know that you start off with $50K and there are a number of ways to obtain more virtual cash; the number one way to earn CC's is to spend time online chatting where you get rewarded for every minute chatting whether you are chatting or listening to someone else chat, you can hold one of the many jobs in the Community (not required but many enjoy the jobs because they get to help shape the Community and they can express themselves creatively), participate in various events and contests, and/or refer friends who sign-up to become a member at United3D. The virtual cash is referred to as CC's or United3D bucks and can be used for many things; house rental, house purchase, and to buy 3D objects in the online stores to decorate your home. When you are online there is a set of Help Guides to provide more detailed information on all of the things mentioned here. sIt is a community that is created by its own residents. These are some of the most common areas of discussion/help and mostly pertain to things once logged into the 3D community. This info is also available from within the 3D community. As time goes on and the need arises, other help and/or answers to frequently asked questions will be provided here.
